A true idle game
In Grand Pokémon Adventure you do not control the walking or the moves. Your trainer explores the maps on its own, meets wild Pokémon, fights with your team leader and, if you want, catches whatever it defeats. You decide where to hunt, what to hunt, how the Bot behaves and who leads the team.
The game server decides everything (encounters, damage, catches, loot). Your browser only shows the scene. That is why your progress is yours and is safe: nobody can change the outcome of a fight from their side.
Automatic hunting
- The hero walks around the map and, after a few seconds, a wild Pokémon appears next to your leader.
- Leader and wild Pokémon trade blows. Damage follows the official 3rd-generation formula, with type advantage (STAB, super effective, immunity) and speed setting the pace.
- When you win you get EXP and loot. There is no penalty if your Pokémon outlevels the map: neither EXP nor Gold is reduced.
- If the whole team faints, the hunt stops and you return to the Pokémon Center.
- The hunt keeps going while you do something else in the tab, and even with the game closed, for a limited time (see Offline hunting).
Regions, maps and levels
Today the game has two regions, and more are coming (Johto, Hoenn and others are already planned):
- Kanto: 44 maps (routes, cities, forests, caves), each with its own level range and species.
- Highland: 13 themed hunts at level 150, with hordes of 2 to 5 wild Pokémon per encounter, shiny for any species on the map and boosted loot.
To enter a map you need its minimum level. Wild Pokémon are born with a level drawn within the range. The full list is in the maps wiki.
Catching and the Bot
The one who catches is the Hunt Helper Bot, set up by you:
- turn catching on or off, choose which species and which ball to use (the cheapest or a specific one);
- decide when to use a potion (HP percentage of the active Pokémon and which potion);
- a shiny is always caught, with the ball you pick for it.
The ball is thrown as soon as the wild Pokémon faints. Every caught Pokémon returns to level 1, keeping its IV, rarity and shiny. The Analyzer shows profit per hour, EXP, kills, loot and spending for your session.
IV, rarity and shiny
- IV: six values from 1 to 31 drawn when the Pokémon is born, which never change. They add to the Pokémon's strength, and the difference grows with level.
- Rarity (hidden until caught): Rare, Epic and Legendary. It is a trade-off: more points in one stat, fewer in another, so the game does not become a race for legendaries.
- Shiny: 1 in 200 chance to appear, with +10% on every stat. Catching one is pure luck, and it cannot be sold to the NPC.
Details, with current numbers, in the systems wiki.
Evolution
Evolution is by level and manual: when it reaches the level, the Pokémon gets a "Can evolve" mark and you choose when. Evolving consumes stones that drop as loot from the evolution line itself and keeps the level. Without stones the Pokémon still evolves, but returns to level 1.
Loot, Gold and the PokéMarket
Each kill can drop items. You sell loot to the NPC Mark for Gold and buy balls and potions at the PokéMarket. You can also sell Pokémon from the Box (except those marked with ♥ and shinies).
VIP Store and GPA Coin
GPA Coin is the premium currency: you can buy it with real money in the VIP Store (R$ 1.00 per coin, through Stripe) or get it from other players on the market. With it you buy VIP (15, 30, 60 or 90 days), which gives +50% EXP to the trainer and the Pokémon and the VIP badge. VIP gives no advantage in catching or shiny.
Player market
The global market lets you list and buy items and Pokémon from other players. Every purchase and sale goes through an auditable record, with balances that never go negative, to prevent fraud and duplication.
Fishing, bosses and more
- Fishing: at the fishing deck, with baits and a fishing level of its own.
- Bosses: the Boss Ticket drops from wild Pokémon in Highland and grants entry to the Fire Boss arena, a single fight that drops TM pieces (10 pieces make a TM Disc).
- Megas: rare mega forms, behind an unlock.
- Coming soon: new regions (Johto, Hoenn and more), casino, gyms, quests and more.
Offline hunting
Closed the game? Your trainer keeps hunting for up to 60 minutes of offline budget. The budget recharges over time and the pace is the same as with the game open: being offline never earns more. When you come back you see a summary of what was hunted.
